Reflection

When I first set my sight on this course, little did know what I would be exposed to the many digital tools. As I look forward to going back to teach, I feel overwhelmed by the many tools at my disposal but I hope to zero down to a few that are more applicable to my school setting. I am especially looking at those tools that a free and can be operated offline since connectivity is one challenge that I experience at school. I have enjoyed every bit of work along the way in this course ranging from the wonderful textbooks to designing a website for the project and using the different tools.   I am continuing with the project of equipping my students with 21st century skills and I am hoping that I can start with one class which can serve as a model to other classes in times to come. New Media Use in Your Classroom Option 1 - New Media Use in Your Classroom  Halverson writes, “As a result, education researchers interested in giving all youth opportunities to acquire and use new media literacies must understand the specific learning processes at work across these different media spaces” (p. 2353). For those of you who are currently teaching, or have taught in the past, in what ways have you allowed your students to use new media in your classrooms? Have they worked with a wiki, developed a blog, or created a screencast? Have they engaged in digital storytelling, as the author discusses? How did you approach this in the classroom setting?
