Reflection

When I first set my sight on this course, little did know what I would be exposed to the many digital tools. As I look forward to going back to teach, I feel overwhelmed by the many tools at my disposal but I hope to zero down to a few that are more applicable to my school setting. I am especially looking at those tools that a free and can be operated offline since connectivity is one challenge that I experience at school. I have enjoyed every bit of work along the way in this course ranging from the wonderful textbooks to designing a website for the project and using the different tools.
I am continuing with the project of equipping my students with 21st century skills and I am hoping that I can start with one class which can serve as a model to other classes in times to come. I am hoping to enlist a few teachers who share my same interest of seeing digital citizens who can collaborate with ease, communicate effectively, think critically, solve problems and can use the different digital tools to advance themselves and the community they live in.
My interest in this course from the start was to equip my self with more digital tools that would make my job as an educator smooth. I enjoyed new tools like Flipgrid, Animoto, Screencast-o-matic, Vocaroo, online photo and video editing and blogging. I have liked the project because it gave me a chance to make use of some of the tools and I hope I can share more in times to come. I enjoyed the participation and feedback from my classmates and this complimented my work.

I must say that I enjoyed the basics from White space is not your enemy book by Rebecca Hagen and Kim Golombisky plus Design basic Index by Kruase. Going forward, they gonna be like my bible as I enjoy the practice of teaching my students how to be good designers. The books are full of simple and basic rules that are overlooked by designers either out of ignorance or deliberately. I am more than equipped with the web 2.0 tools and these will help me as I share with my students. Exposing them to these tools will definitely be a right step towards helping them become digital citizens.
